Bullying — is all to prevalent nowadays despite parents and teachers' best efforts unfortunately Bullying is still a problem that impacts on millions of children every year. KickboxUK sign up to Martial Arts Against Bullying (MAAB) and ensure our classes are suitable for everyone, enrolling your child at KickboxUK will help to build the confidence to stand up and speak out against bullying. Our commitment to you is:
Here are a few way KickboxUK can help support parents and teaches in the fight against bullying
1) Build Respect One of the most important lessons Kickboxing teaches is the value of respect. Respect plays a huge role in martial arts training, from the respect shown to our superiors, down to the respect we show our peers. This is why we always begin classes bow. When children learn to respect their instructors and their peers, they become open to looking at their own flaws and how to correct them. Many children today who have experienced bullying oftentimes don’t realize that they are either being a bully or getting bullied. Through constant self-reflection and persistent self-improvement, children are able to take a step back and look deep within themselves. 2) Sportsmanship Not only does Kickboxing keep your kids active but it also teaches us that its not always about winning and losing, but how you prepare and perform. Sportsmanship is a great trait to have in life, because things won’t always go our way. When we experience defeat, it is important that we look past the result and understand that experience is much more valuable than just plain victory. 3) Responsibility Because we are given the ability to physically protect ourselves and those around us, Kickboxing empowers us, especially children, with a solid sense of responsibility. We build confidence in our skills and this sort of self-belief is accompanied by an understanding that we have an inherent responsibility to use martial arts in the proper way. We aren’t taught self-defense so that we may inflict harm on others. We are taught so that we may defend ourselves when the need arises. Bullying occurs when an individual fails to realize how his actions can affect others. One of the most important lessons martial arts teaches is how our actions, physical, verbal, or otherwise, have a great impact on other people. 4) Positivity Kickboxing is not only the body, but also the mind and the spirit. During training, we workout our muscles, pushing ourselves hard while discovering what we are capable of physically. We also test our minds through practice, repetition and memory. After a few classes, students start to feel happier with their lives, as they have more and more fun during training. This is what is often experienced at our club. If we have any chance of getting rid of bullying once and for all, we have to start by making our children’s lives happier in general. 5) Build lasting friendships Kickboxing is a great way to bully-proof your child! Last but certainly not the least, martial arts helps children build meaningful and lasting relationships. Because students are often tasked to work with each other during training, they gain an unabashed sense of camaraderie and team work through assisting others to achieve their own greatness, and being proud to help the person next to us.
