Still need a reason to enrol your child? Here's 10......
1) Learn to defend themselves.
One of biggest concerns parents have is that their children would not be able to defend themselves if needed (i.e. being bullied). Kickboxing gives our students the strength to walk away and confidence to avoid trouble altogether. It will also give them the mental and physical skills to defend themselves if other options don't work. |
2) Stay active and fit.
On average children between 8 - 12 spend over 5 hours a day in front of screen. Kickboxing is the perfect way to get kids off their bums and staying active. In addition Kickboxing build muscle and increases cardiovascular performance giving children a health and fit start to life. |
3) Develop athleticism.
The movements we teach at Kickboxing will challenge and build motor skills, flexibility, reflexes and dexterity, which help develop a child’s athleticism. This helps create a good athletic base for children that will help them excel in all other physical activities. |
4) Discipline and focus.
Discipline and focus are hard to build in children nowadays, and as most of our coaches are parents ourselves we can certainly empathize with the challenge at home. Our Kickboxing classes are structured to teach focus, patience, restraint, and the many qualities that come with discipline. The same level of discipline and focus obtained from practicing Kickboxing with us will no doubt become a part of their daily lives at home too. |
5) Learn respect and responsibility
We teach 360 degree respect at our classes, from and for Coaches, Students, Parents, Volunteers and others in Authority. Marital Arts has a long tradition of mutual respect and children will learn very quickly that to gain respect. We give each student a reward book which they are responsible for and need to bring each week to collect stamps for their medals. |
6) Confidence and self-esteem.
A lack of confidence and self-esteem can be detrimental for children, not just through school but in later life too. It can be one of the first things bullies look for when targeting victims. We work on a method of positive re-enforcement for children whilst also pushing comfort zones, from week one we focus on removing the 'cant do' mentality and strengthen the child's self-belief. |
7) They will learn to be goal-oriented.
Successful businessmen, elite level athletes, and big achievers all have one thing in common: they set goals. Goals give individuals direction and motivation, helping them focus. Kickboxing will set goals for them and also encourage them to set goals for themselves. This will help them in every aspect of life, whether it is in school, work, or other sports. |
8) Strengthen their minds.
Kickboxing doesn't just strengthen the body, it strengthens the mind as well. Most of the time, it is our minds that stop us from performing at our best. Kickboxing with us will encourage anyone to break barriers and overcome fears and obstacles. A strong mind is a powerful tool to help children overcome tough times and succeed in all areas of their life. |
9) They will learn to be independent.
We always emphasise the importance of teamwork in our classes, and help children to learn how to show encouragement to others. However, Kickboxing is one of the few activities that requires children to be self-reliant and independent. Learning how to do a technique, progressing to the next grade, entering a tournament is completely based on the hard work and commitment put in by an individual. |
10) Widen Friendship groups.
Building friendships is a key part of childhood development, having different friendship groups from out of school activities help children develop different interpersonal skills and be less susceptible to group or social bullying. We encourage children to work with different people and therefore make friends of different ages and areas which can also help with school transitions.
