Thank you enquiring for our class us here are some
Frequently Asked Questions
Will i be made to fight?
Absolutely not, only around 10% of our students compete, most people training with us chose to train for the fitness benefits. Our weekday classes focus mainly on the non-contact elements of the sport. Should you choose to compete we offer separate sparring classes, mainly at the weekends where you can prepare for the tournaments in a safe and controlled environment. We also run and manage our own inter-club tournaments to give you that controlled first step into sparring should you chose to give it a try in the future.
What age do i have to be?
We recognise that the needs of juniors and adults are very different so most of our clubs have dedicated junior classes. We accept free trials for children in the dedicated junior classes from 4 years old. In the mixed classes juniors need to be 7 years old. We have no upper limits for adult classes in fact our Senior Coach has previously conducted a class for people aged over 80 years old! All of our coaches are trained to adapt the class to make sure we get the best from our students regardless of their age or fitness.
Where are your classes?
We have classes throughout Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, have a look on our Classes page for more information.
What should i expect in an average class?
We ask students to arrive around 10 minutes before the class start time to get ready to start on time. On your first class you will normally be paired with one of our Coaching Team Members who will ensure you meet new people and also give you one to one support.
The class then generally consists of a brief stretch and warm up, which is followed by partner pad-work combinations, practice of our grading syllabus, a strength or cardio burnout and a cool down to finish.

What do i need to wear?
When you join you will receive the full club uniform as part of your membership. For your trial class we recommend tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt, we also train barefoot so don't worry about training shoes for your first session.
How do i book a trial?
If you know which club you want to train at then simply fill out the form on the relevant club page or alternatively give Michelle a call on 07979 965 404 and she will discuss which club might be best for you.
Do i need to sign a contract?
We do not make you sign a contract. We want you to train with us because you enjoy it, not because you are contracted to! This helps us to ensure all our coaches consistently offer the very best martial arts tuition. Training fees are made via either monthly standing order or Direct Debit, if you are going to miss a month pause the payment and then start it again when you are back.
What if i cant make every week?
Unlike other martial arts clubs we let you do catch up sessions at any of the KickboxUK classes on a 'trust' basis. We also let you 'bank' sessions for a month. So for example if your going on holiday for two weeks in June why have to wait till you've missed the sessions to catch them up, we let you take the catch up sessions before you go on holiday making sure you are as beach ready as you can be!

DO I HAVE TO GRADE FOR THE BELTS?
No. Gradings are completely optional.
PKA gradings are based on a National Grading Standard, unlike other clubs where the coach will award belts we have an independent assessor from the PKA who will check your progress against this national standard. We do encourage students to grade as its a great way to check progress towards your goals.
